I enjoy documenting my love of plants and garden projects as my garden evolves. I believe gardens are meant to change and grow with you. I'm always rearranging and adding new, exciting plants. I truly believe there is no reason to keep a plant in the garden that doesn't bring you joy. Here is your permission to remove it.

I'm here to share what I know and learn each season in my garden. There always seems to be something new with each project, season and planting year. That's one of the main things I love about gardening, there is always one more lesson to learn. Let's learn and grow together!

I grow in Northern California zone 9A. Summers are HOT and winters are very mild. Meaning I am able to grow most of the year, which is a blessing and a curse. I can't wait to show you what's next.

What’s with the bamboo and terracotta? All it took was one time for me to stab extremely close to my eye when I was harvesting flowers to never do that again. So on all my supports I added terracotta pots and it’s much more noticeable and so much safer! I also don’t mind the look of it, I think it’s quite charming 🩵

Lemon Cypress! I’m sure you have heard of her. She’s usually sold as a holiday tree all wrapped in ribbon but she actually makes a great tree to add to the landscape. Growing zones 7-10 and getting 15-20ft tall and 6-8ft wide and it grows pretty fast! If you are in a colder zone you can easily grow it in a container (it will stay smaller) and bring it in during the colder months! Just make sure it gets plenty of water in a container 🌲💚

Oh Brent. My favorite thing to do is never let him live something down. A few years ago I went on a trip and came back to death, famine and disease. Well maybe not that dramatic but definitely a lot of dead plants. Since then, I like to remind him on a weekly basis.

My own worst critic. I notice each crooked plant, every uneven row, and the tiniest sign of a wilting leaf. Comparing my garden to those who have the picture perfect garden. The garden is meant to be a place of peace and joy in my busy mind. I forget to slow down and enjoy often. The flaws are part of the journey.

It’s easy to look at a neighbor’s perfectly manicured beds or scroll through photos of lush, vibrant gardens online and feel like my efforts fall short. Their roses bloom brighter, their vegetables grow larger, and their paths seem effortlessly tidy. Suddenly, the beauty of my own space fades in my mind. I forget the satisfaction of planting each seed, the joy in watching new life sprout from the soil, and the peace my garden brings me. When I compare, I lose sight of the unique beauty in my own slice of paradise.

The moment I stop comparing, the garden becomes a place of joy again, full of wonder and pride in the work I’ve done.

It’s time! Time to buy my own!! My neighbor Ashley is my favorite, she’s always down for mischief. Last nights mischief was operation build the 12ft tall skeleton from @homedepot before her husband gets home. It was a success! Her son absolutely loved it and her husband was less than impressed 😂💀 next step is to get Brent out of the house so Ashley and I can set one up in my yard!

My new garden obsession is so affordable! Linked in my bio. When I saw this fountain, I knew the PERFECT spot for it, and it didn’t disappoint. We connected it to our irrigation system with a 2-gallon-per-hour emitter. It runs up through the bottom, right where the power comes from, so it was super easy to set up. The fountain plugs into any standard outlet and uses a small pond pump. We turned the pump power all the way down, and now it’s perfect! ⛲️

Most fountains are so expensive, and we’ve been shopping around for one for the past two years. Once we fully decided we were going to move, I knew spending a few grand on a fountain was out of the question. Now I get to enjoy the soothing sound of moving water throughout the property!

My season has started!! While so many people are winding down for the year I’m getting a second push. Summers are hard here so that’s primarily my off season. Very little planting happens so it’s mostly travel, small projects and keeping things alive! Well now that we are cooling down into the 90° I get to go full force in the garden!!
